Vapour Organic Beauty Will Have Your Skin Red Carpet Ready

The recipient of Allure's Best of Beauty 2013 Award, Vapour Atmosphere Luminous Foundation sets a new standard for foundation. Vapour Organic Beauty will have you skin looking red carpet ready within minutes! My first day wearing a combination of Vapour Stratus Instant Skin Perfector, Atmosphere Luminous Foundation and Illusionist Perfecting Concealer, my skin had a dewy appearance and I received not one, but three compliments from complete strangers about how luminous my skin looked. I could only attribute it to Vapour's 100% natural ingredients.

Vapour's Stratus Instant Skin Perfector is a translucent primer, which erases pores, primes the skin for foundation and concealer, moisturizes, contains antioxidants and essential fatty acids. All products were warmed on my hand and applied to my face with my fingers, for a better application. Each products is extremely easy to apply, smells of Frankincense upon application, has a creamy consistency and blends seamlessly with my skin. This is saying a lot, as finding shades for my yellow undertone can be difficult. The Atmosphere Luminous Foundation leaves a radiant natural finish that is not artificial. Due to it's creamy consistency, it is perfect for dry, mature skin and during cooler months. Oily skin gals will love that it doesn't feel heavy or sink into pores, a look no one wants. My skin felt like it could breathe. I would love to see a fragrance free option for those with allergies.

I found it best to apply the foundation, then spot treat last with the concealer. I will be trying their blush and a lighter shade of concealer next to highlight. Women of Color will love the variety of shades available, I feel like they really nailed it with the shades available! Thank you Vapour!

How to Choose a Foundation

Stumped on what foundation you should be using?  Take into consideration your skin type and needed coverage.  Apply in this order: 1. Moisturizer 2. Spf 30+
3. Primer 4. Foundation 5. Concealer 6. Powder (to set your canvas.)
How to Choose a Foundation

  1. Liquid: For all skin types and offers sheer to full coverage.  The easiest to apply.  Apply with foundation brush, flat top brush or clean fingers.
  2. Stick/Cream: Dry or mature skin and full coverage.  Often has moisturizing benefits.  Apply with stick or foundation brush and blend out with brush.
  3. Powder: Oily skin and buildable coverage.  Wear sheer to full coverage.  Apply with a kabuki brush (foundation) or fluffy powder brush (setting powder).
  4. Cream to Powder: Oily skin and full coverage.  Dries to a matte finish.  Apply with sponge or foundation brush.
  5. Mineral: Option for those wanting a more natural foundation and have sensitive skin.  Apply with kabuki brush  or fluffy powder brush.
  6. Tinted Moisturizer: For a sheer wash of color on any skin type.
Tips
  • Blend, blend, blend your foundation for the most natural and seamless look. Avoid a line of demarcation and blend, this means blend a little foundation further down your jaw and on your neck.
  • Test foundations in natural light and try a sample first if possible.
  • The correct shade will disappear on your skin.
  • Clean brushes once a week.  Soak for 15 minutes in a cup of warm water and anti-bacterial fragrance free dish soap.  Do not fully immerse bristles, this will loosen the glue binding the hairs to the brush.  Thoroughly rinse brush with warm water till clear, squeeze excess water and lay flat on a paper towel until dry.

Product Shout Out! Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick

Great for on the go touch ups, Bobbi Brown touch up stick conceals imperfections, acne scars, blemishes and redness.  Awarded InStyle Best Beauty Buy in 2011, this concealer/foundation is a great find at $23.  I personally love Bobbi Brown cosmetics, because her foundation and concealer are yellow based.  This makes for a more natural look.  I apply where I need coverage and PAT in & blend with my fingers.  Bobbi Brown is the ONLY cosmetic line that carries a shade (golden) that almost perfectly matches my skin tone!  Powder is a must to set this product.
.08 oz $23 available at Nordstrom & Bobbi Brown.
  • Creamy full coverage formula.
  • Suitable for cheeks, chin, nose and forehead.
  • Great for normal & combination skin types.

Origins Stay Tuned Foundation is my new Favorite foundation!

Origins Stay Tuned Balancing Face Makeup

Foundation is the last step to your skin care regime and should not "mask" your face.  Foundations purpose is to even your skin tone. I have tried every brand, cheap and expensive. Because my skin is problematic, my search for the right foundation was a long one.  I needed to find a foundation that was a) A great color match b) Won't make me breakout c) Medium coverage for my hyperpigmentation, but still look natural.

I came to Origins, because they do not use synthetic fragrance (the majority of cosmetic brands use this, it irritates my skin and allergies).  The have a okay color selection, they could work more on darker colors.  Finding a foundation with the right amount of yellow undertones has been an endless search.  The Origins associate gave me a sample and I tested it out over the next couple of days.

The Stay Tuned Foundation is a new summer favorite.  I tested this over the summer when my skin was the most oily.  The foundation is suited for combination skin, formulated without Parabens, Phthalates, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, PABA, Petrolatum, Paraffin, DEA,Synthetic Fragrance and animal ingredients.  Origins promises, "Skin looks naturally gorgeous, never greasy or glum."

My skin can be quite oily, sometimes dehydrated and this foundation absorbs oil well and does not dry my skin out.  There are a couple essential oils in the ingredients, but they do not exasperate my oily skin or allergies!  I am happy with this natural looking foundation and will continue using Origins cosmetics.
